The Sankar Vedanta Math-O-Mission Trust was founded based on the spiritual doctrines preached by Adi Shankaracharya as well as the Vedic philosophy of non-dualism. The charitable, humanitarian trust that Sri Sri 108 Swami Vivodhananda Saraswati Maharaj founded has been working on a number of projects for mass welfare, particularly in the areas of education and health services. The trust was established in 1992 in the rural community of Chandanhati Village, Barasat in North 24 Parganas, close to the metropolis of Kolkata. Since its establishment, the trust has been truly working from the ground up to try to improve the quality of the social situation in its surroundings. Its free medical clinic, ambulance service, health fairs, and patient counselling centre have all helped the public. Trust is committed to the idea that each person has an inner self that derives from a common source of cosmic energy. All of its projects and agendas are nothing more than attempts to discover that non-dual soul which really is omnipotent and omnipresent in all of the living beings and manifestations of the same almighty. That the spiritual concept of self-discovery and to achieve salvation worked as the principal thought behind the establishment of the Vivodhananda Saraswati Nursing Institute.
