INTRODUCTION

On April 25, 1995, the Hon'ble Chief Minister, Late Sri Jyoti Basu, inaugurated Ruby General Hospital Pvt. Ltd. On October 28, 1995, Mother Teresa opened the Cardiac Unit.

Ruby General Hospital's Chairman and Managing Director is Dr. Kamal K. Dutta. In 1976, he graduated from R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata and moved to the United States. He works as a consultant gynecologist at one of New Jersey's top hospitals. He was the Chairman of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at St. Mary's Hospitals, as well as the Chairman of the General Hospital Centre in New Jersey, USA.
Ruby General Hospital's School of Nursing was established in 2009. The Nursing Institute is established by the Indian Nursing Council (INC), the West Bengal Nursing Council (WBNC), and the College of Nursing and will be established in the year 2021.

The Nursing College was started by the Chairman and Managing Director of Ruby General Hospital, Dr. Kamal K. Dutta, an NRI doctor, lives in New Jersey with his wife, Mrs. Ruby Dutta, and his family. Ruby General Hospital is one of the longest running private hospitals in Eastern India, with ISO 9001:2018 certification, NABH and NABL accreditation, and a 2014 Health Care Achievers Award for "Best Multi-Specialty Hospital, Kolkata."
Ruby Hospital is a 316-bed multi-specialty healthcare facility located on the E M Bypass in Kolkata. The hospital has an average occupancy rate of 80% to 90%. Dr. Dutta took the initiative of beginning his own nursing school and college, which will fulfill this gap and serve our state as well as the nation in overcoming the issue of a shortage of nursing personnel to some extent.

Ruby General Hospital is Eastern India's first NRI hospital. It is an ISO 9001: 2015 certified tertiary care multispeciality hospital with NABH accreditation. Ruby has also received the prestigious 'Healthcare Achievers Award' for Best Multispecialty Hospital in Kolkata. Ruby General Hospital employs a highly skilled and accomplished team of medical practitioners, technicians, nurses, and other administrative personnel. Ruby General Hospital has over 200 renowned senior consultants of various specialties on staff, as well as 50 in-house doctors who are always available. Our 42 multi-specialty outpatient services are available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. (Monday through Saturday) and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Sunday) (on Sundays).

The 316-bed hospital has six operating rooms; a cath lab; CTVS ICU, ITU, ICCU, NICU; day care services; radiology services; an emergency department; pathology services; a pharmacy; and other diagnostic services. The hospital has performed a variety of major surgeries and cath lab procedures, cardio thoracic surgeries, cancer surgeries, and other complicated surgeries and procedures with a very high success rate over a 26-year period. Every day, 350 to 400 patients use our outpatient services.

The hospital is fully equipped with the latest technology and equipment. Emergency, Trauma Care, Ambulance, Pathology, Pharmacy, Dialysis, and Radiology services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Pathology, Hematology, Biochemistry, and a wide range of other diagnostics and investigations are carried out here.The hospital also has MRI facilities; Mammography; 128 slice CT Scan; MRCP; MR Angio; all types of CT Scans; CT Angio; including Cardiac CT.Around 75 beds have been set aside solely for the management of patients in need of emergency and critical care. A large number of trauma cases are successfully treated here.

There are approximately 42 multi-specialty departments that provide treatment, including Cardiology, Pulmonology, Cardiac Surgery, Dental, Endocrinology, ENT, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Gynaecology, Obstetrics, Haematology, Clinical Oncology, Medicine, Nephrology, Neurology, Neuro Surgery, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology,Surgical Oncology, Oral & Maxilofacial Surgery.

Ruby Cancer Centre, a division of Ruby General Hospital, is Kolkata's first NABH accredited cancer center. It provides world-class radiation oncology care. It also has a full-service cancer center with surgical, medical, and radiation oncology services. The Clinac iX linear accelerator with FFF (flattening filter free) technology is the first of its kind in India.We can perform all types of cancer radiotherapy treatments on a single machine, from basic conventional techniques to more sophisticated intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), image guided radiotherapy (IGRT), Rapid Arc (VMAT), and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT). Additionally, we have a cone beam CT scanner (CBCT) attached to our machine, which allows us to perform daily CT scans on our patients prior to radiation treatment. We also have the most recent version of radiotherapy planning software, which allows us to direct the radiation dose to the tumor while sparing the surrounding normal tissues, allowing us to control the tumor with minimal side effects.

In addition, we have a dedicated 24-channel brachytherapy setup (Gammamed Plus) with a high dose rate (HDR) radioisotope source. It is also very helpful in treating a few of the malignancies in females.
