About
Mercy Hospital strikes the ideal balance to continue its outstanding efforts in transforming the healthcare sector. Aligning itself with the commitment of developing healthcare availability in India and with a powerful system of values to serve the needy, the hospital is now in the process of expanding its footsteps to the remote areas of West Bengal. The NABH accredited organisation has a committed team of physicians, nurses, partners with longtime well-wishers, and education-based institutions from all around the world since its inception in 1977. Through a network of 10 rural clinics, Mercy Hospital developed and maintained a distinctive healthcare delivery strategy as it grew from a small clinic to a 173-bed facility.
They are partnerships that supply low-cost and subsidised treatment models through six urban clinic centres and a multi-specialty hospital at prices that are competitive with the market. Mercy Hospital has become a model healthcare network as a result of the hospital's dedication to offering its patients access to affordable treatment and its innovative leadership. Mercy Hospital was founded by these visionaries and has spent the last four decades providing care for Kolkata's underprivileged. The hospital now provides a wide range of services, including a full surgical facility (General surgery, Orthopaedic, Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Neuro-surgery), three critical care units (NICU, ICU, and ICCU), a mother-and-child centre, an emergency centre, and medical and general centres. With a rich legacy behind, the hospital not just caters to the city’s metropolitan area alone; its range is the entire state. Patients use our services from a variety of districts, including Malda, Midnapore, Burdwan, Birbhum, Bongaon, Asansol, Purulia, and North Bengal. The hospital also receives patients from nearby nations like Bangladesh as well as states like Odisha and Jharkhand. The Indian Nursing Council and the West Bengal Nursing Council both recognise the 1979 establishment of the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. In 2011, Mercy Hospital was appointed by the West Bengal government as a Class-I medical service provider. The hospital is devoted to serving people via "Compassion with Excellence" in order to function at its best in a market that is becoming more and more competitive. The hospital has certification of OHSAS 18001:2007, ISO 9001:2008 QMS, and ISO 14001:EMS.
Mercy Hospital was established in 1977 with the help of the Rev. Drs. Mark and Huldah Buntain. From a tiny clinic, the organisation has grown into a multi-specialty hospital with 173 beds, 22 specialty units, and 10 community clinics, carefully serving more than 100,000 patients annually. With his outstanding leadership, Mr. Sanjay Prasad, President & CEO, is expanding the hospital's mission while maintaining its commitment to providing free healthcare services to 40% of patients over the course of four decades. He is also setting the bar for healthcare administration in Kolkata and the surrounding areas. The founders, Rev. Drs. Mark and Huldah Buntain, relocated to Kolkata in 1954 to serve as missionaries.Since then, they have provided compassionate day and night medical care to underprivileged and needy people. They regarded all people as "children of God," and this belief served as the hospital's core principle. The gesture "Arpan," which in Hindi and Bengali means "to offer," is represented by the hospital's logo. The image in the logo represents a self-sacrificing offering. The hospital is a symbol of unselfish sacrifice and dedication to a good cause. Mercy Hospital is committed to providing the people of Kolkata with the best, most reliable, and efficient care.
The Mercy Hospital is now one of the top healthcare facilities in Eastern India due to accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH), a constituent board of the Quality Council of India.
