Regarding Location and Facilities
The Sambalpur University and famous Medical and Engineering University are located at the Jyoti Vihar, Burla, an educational complex surrounded by hills and rivers that also houses the temporary campus of IIM Sambalpur. The town is quite scenic and close to nature thanks to the temporary campus's location in Barapahad (Twelve Hills), which is flanked by mountains, thick woods, and the Debrigarh wildlife sanctuary. The temporary campus is situated at one end of the world's longest earthen dam, Hirakud Dam. The natural beauty of the woods, riverbed, and dam itself would satisfy birdwatchers and animal enthusiasts.

Faculty housing is located in the recently built Greater Sambalpur housing complex, which is close to the university and offers all of the modern conveniences and amenities. The academic building, classrooms, residence halls and auditorium on campus are all wifi-capable. The permanent campus of the institute is already in place, and construction is expected to be finished on time.
Sambalpur is easily accessible by train, road, and air from Bhubaneswar and Raipur. The Jharsuguda Airport, which will open on March 31, is one hour's drive from the Institute. Additionally, the recently finished Biju Motorway contributes to good transit.

How to get there
Air
Veer Surendra Sai Airport in Jharsuguda is only a short drive away from the city. Commuting passengers can take direct flights from major cities like Delhi, Hyderabad, Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, Raipur, Ranchi, Banglore, Chennai, and Varanasi Sambalpur is also close to the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar as well as the Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur.
Roads
Sambalpur's transportation infrastructure is well-suited to both commercial and public transportation. To the rest of Odisha and India (the Mumbai-Kolkata route), it is connected by the national route NH 53/Ecconomic Corridor 1 (EC1), a portion of Asian Highway AH46.
Rail
Sambalpur is one of the three railway divisions in Indian Railways' East Coast Railway zone. Sambalpur (SBP), a key railway station in Odisha, serves as the Sambalpur Railway Division's administrative base. This train station, according to Indian Railway, is the cleanest on the East Coast Railway. The other four stations that serve Sambalpur (MANE) are Hirakud (HKG), which is situated across the Mahanadi, Sambalpur Road Railway Station (SBPD), and Maneswar Railway Station.
