About IIM Bangalore
The IIMB is an Institute of National Importance as defined by the IIM Act of 2017. IIMB includes 107 full-time teaching members, 1200 students enrolled in a variety of degree-granting programmes, and close to 5000 people who attend Executive Education each year. Our logo has the Sanskrit phrase "let our study be illuminating" (tejasvi navadhitamastu), which translates to "let our study be" in English. In order to encourage excellence in management, innovation, and entrepreneurship for business, government, and society, our objective is to become a globally renowned academic institution.
We have the extra benefit of being adjacent to some of the top business houses in the nation, ranging from information technology to consumer product companies, thanks to our location in the high technology hub of India. This allows us to combine theoretical knowledge with real-world experience.
Our degree-granting programmes include the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), Master of Management Studies (Public Policy), Master of Business Administration (Business Analytics)—two years fulltime, Master of Business Administration (Business Analytics)—one year fulltime, Master of Business Administration (Weekend)—two years fulltime, and Master of Business Administration (One Year Fulltime). In order to improve the socioeconomic diversity of management academia in India, we provide the NS Ramaswamy Pre-doctoral (NSR Pre-doc) Fellowship as a Certificate programme.
We have 10 centres of excellence that provide courses and carry out research on intriguing issues affecting many industries, in addition to 11 disciplinary areas. For women's entrepreneurship, the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation for the incubation of non-profits, and NITI Aayog for the scaling up of innovative companies, we have important partnerships and collaborations.
We are dedicated to using technology-enabled education to have a significant societal impact. We provide Massive Open Online Courses to do this (MOOCs). We are India's first management school to use the edX platform to deliver MOOCs. We serve as the GoI's online education platform SWAYAM's management education coordination institute.
To achieve the goals set for IIMB, we have made a number of progresses. These include expanding our activities in the field of entrepreneurship, in both research and mentoring, hiring high-caliber faculty, improving the quality of research, emphasising internationalisation, increasing the number of students enrolled in all of the programmes, deepening our engagement with alumni, upgrading infrastructure, and improving administration and governance.
In 2016, the EFMD Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) granted us accreditation for a five-year period. The European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), which focuses on higher education schools of management and business administration, administers the international school accreditation programme known as EQUIS. The five-year accreditation, the longest EQUIS offers, proves that the evaluation panel has faith in our ability to continue our efforts to meet high standards in research, internationalisation, and education. With numerous partner universities in North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and South America, we have a thriving student exchange programme.
We have a close relationship with the 32 prestigious business schools that make up the Global Network for Advanced Management (GNAM), an international network.
About 27 kilometres from the campus on Bannerghatta Road, near Jigani, we are building a second campus. We invite you to go with us on this exciting trajectory of growth and expansion.
The government of independent India put a lot of effort into developing homegrown science and technology after 1947. It became obvious that the nation needed to concurrently increase management expertise and resources as a technology basis was being built. The country's Indian Institutes of Management were founded as a result. In Bangalore, the Indian Institute of Management was founded in 1973.
Under the direction of the current Director, Professor G. Raghuram, the IIMB History Project was started in 2017 in an effort to document the development of IIMB and to tell the Institute's history.
OVERVIEW
The Executive General Management Programme (EGMP) is a part-time certificate programme created for functional managers who want to transition into a general management role. The programme helps participants develop fundamental business skills and competencies that will enable them to manage problems involving cross-functional areas.
Peer learning is made possible by the EGMP's ability to bring together people with a variety of backgrounds, abilities, and experiences. The IIMB's esteemed faculty oversees the curriculum. The EGMP members actively participate in case studies, discussions, games, and role-playing. They gain a great deal from ongoing education and networking with colleagues from various backgrounds both during and after the programme.
