The Punjabi government helped the Ministry of Education (formerly the Ministry of Human Resource Development) establish the 15th Indian Institute of Management (IIM) at Amritsar. The first batch for the class of 2015–17 was enrolled in August 2015 following the registration of the IIM Amritsar Society on July 27, 2015. The IIM Amritsar Board of Governance & Society was later established on October 14, 2015.
The institute gains from the wonderful experience provided by this holy city because it is situated in Amritsar, the home of the Golden Temple and the Wagah Border. Currently, the Institute is housed in the Punjab Institute of Technology Building, which is located 10 kilometres from the airport and 5 kilometres from the railway station. Its permanent campus will be built close to the ISBT and the railway station, at a distance of around 7 kilometres and 8.5 km, respectively.
Currently, the Post Graduate Program in Management is available at IIM Amritsar. This program's goal is to deliver top-notch management education and produce highly intelligent management experts who can satisfy the needs of businesses in all industries. The institute is dedicated to instilling solid educational foundations and principles in the future managers' hearts, minds, and behaviour.
