When the Dr. B.C. Roy Engineering College, Durgapur, also known as BCREC, was established on August 21, 2000, the Dr. B.C. Roy Engineering College Society acted as the general administrative body. With both domestic and international requirements in mind, the BCREC management is steadfastly devoted to gradually developing the institution into one of the best centres for engineering and management education in Eastern India. The institute was founded as a consequence of the vision of a group of charitable businesspeople from Durgapur and is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, the designer of contemporary West Bengal.
For those enrolling in the 2000–01 academic year, the Dr. B.C. Roy Engineering College in Durgapur was connected to the University of Burdwan. However, the college became a part of the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT) beginning of the 2001–2002 academic year. The college has received clearance from the Department of Higher Education, the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).Each course's prerequisites are up-to-date, and MAKAUT prepared the curriculum. The team in charge of the situation is committed to transforming students into future leaders who are actively involved in society. It will be a true service to the country and a respectful tribute to the great thinker Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy to consistently produce top engineering managers and professionals. The management of BCREC is constantly working to raise the bar in order to elevate the institution to the top ranks of engineering and management science institutions and to regularly set the bar for excellence in education.
