A full-fledged tertiary referral Government Medical college, Deben Mahata Government Medical College & Hospital was formerly known as Purulia Government Medical College and Hospital. It was founded in Purulia, West Bengal, in the year 2020. The college is accredited by the National Medical Commission and connected with West Bengal University of Health Sciences. The medical college has a relationship with both the Super Speciality Hospital and the Deben Mahata Sadar Hospital. In the main campus, there are quarters for the teaching and non-teaching staff, residents, and nurses. There are additional dorms for boys and girls on the main college campus. From 2020, there will be 100 new MBBS graduates per year.
