The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially declared the CUET UG 2025 results on July 4, bringing relief and clarity to over 13 lakh students who appeared for the exam this year. Conducted for admissions to undergraduate programmes across central and participating universities in India, CUET (Common University Entrance Test) has become the go-to gateway for higher education aspirants.
With results now available, institutions such as Delhi University have also begun the next stage of their admission process. The second phase of the CSAS portal is now open, allowing students to revise their applications and prioritise their preferred colleges and courses based on their CUET scores.
But beyond the results, a fascinating trend is visible when we look at which subjects attracted the highest and lowest number of applicants in CUET UG 2025.
Most Popular Subjects in CUET UG 2025
Once again, English has topped the list of most preferred subjects among students. With 10,07,645 students registered and 8,22,518 appearing, it continues to be the dominant choice for aspirants across streams.
Following English, Chemistry witnessed the second-highest participation, with 7,02,050 registered and 5,61,719 students actually appearing in the exam.
Other highly opted subjects include:
Biology/Biotechnology – 3,91,605 registered

Physics – 6,73,038 registered
Economics/Business Economics – 2,14,056 registered

These subjects continue to remain popular as they are commonly required for a wide range of UG programmes in science, commerce, and humanities streams.
Subjects with the Least Applicants in CUET UG
On the other end of the spectrum, a few regional and foreign languages saw very low participation:
Konkani – Just 5 students registered, and 4 appeared
Sindhi – 8 registered, with only 2 showing up
Dogri – 24 registered, 3 appeared
Maithili – 30 registered, 5 appeared
Bodo – 131 registered, 20 appeared
These figures point to a sharp contrast in subject popularity, especially when compared with high-demand streams like English, Sciences, and Commerce.
